Under some circumstances, your Windows Vista computer may stop responding during boot process. You may get BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) with a STOP error and the system automatically shuts down. The problem may occur every time when you boot your system, and thus the system become inaccessible or unusable.
This behavior of Microsoft Windows Vista makes all your valuable data inaccessible and cause severe data loss problems. In order to retrieve lost data in these cases, you need to opt for Windows Data Recovery solutions.
For example, you may come across below error message while booting your Microsoft Windows Vista computer:
“A problem has been detected and windows has been shutdown to prevent damage
to your computer
The problem seems to be caused by the following file: win32k.sys
Page_Fault_In_Nonpaged_Area
Stop: 0×00000050 (0xE41B0E15, 0×00000000, 0xBF88CD88, 00000001)
Win32k.sys-Address BF88CD88 BASE AT BF800000, Datestamp 45F013F6”
The above error message prevents your system from booting, making all your data inaccessible. In order to access data in such cases, find out the cause of this problem and perform Windows Recovery by sorting it out.
Grounds of the problem:
The STOP error 0x50 in Microsoft Windows Vista shows that the required data is not in memory. Windows operating system generates the exception errors while using the reference to any invalid system memory address. The defective memory or an incompatible application may cause this error.
Resolution:
Try out following things to fix this problem-
- If the problem is caused after installing a new hardware, remove it and check if the issue recurs. If any existing hardware component has failed, replace it.
- If error occurs with a BSOD, reboot the system and then press F8 key at character-mode menu to see operating system choices. Select Last Known Good Configuration from Windows Vista Advanced Options menu.
- Anti-virus application may also cause this issue. Disable it and check whether it helps you to fix the problem.
- Problem may also be caused by the damaged NTFS (New Technology File System) file system partition. Run Chkdsk /f /r for detecting and fixing hard drive errors.
However, if above methods do not work, you need to format the hard drive. Formatting fixes most of the hard drive related errors, but also removes data from the drive and cause severe data loss. In such cases, you need use Windows Data Recovery Software to extract lost data.
The Hard Drive Recovery applications use extensive scanning techniques for assured recovery of all your lost data. They are completely safe and easy to use. The tools work in most of the data loss situations.
In Microsoft Windows XP and 2000 operating systems, a backup of boot sector is created and stored in the last sector of partition. You can use the backup copy of boot sector for replacing damaged boot sector of the partition.
But, if the FAT32 partition become inaccessible or damaged and you try to repair it using Chkdsk utility, the file system might be reported as FAT32 (or RAW, depending upon the corruption), however Chkdsk utility quits immediately without repairing the partition. In such cases, the hard drive data remains inaccessible and you need to opt for Hard Drive Recovery solutions to get your valuable data back.
For instance, you may come across the below message when you use 'chkdsk : f' command:
“The type of the file system is FAT32.
Volume Serial Number is C408-2213”
When you run the Chkdsk tool again without command-line switches, it still displays the partition is corrupted. If you run 'chkdsk :' command, the below error message might be displayed:
“The type of the file system is FAT32.
Volume Serial Number is C408-2213
Errors found. CHKDSK cannot continue in read-only mode.”
At this point, the drive remains inaccessible. In order to access the hard drive, you need to find out the cause of this problem and perform hard drive recovery by sorting it out.
Grounds of the issue:
This problem occurs because FAT32 file system has a backup copy of boot sector. However, the Chkdsk tool does not try to use backup copy unless primary boot sector of your partition is physically stored in bad sector and the utility receives I/O error messages while attempting to read partition. Chkdsk does not attempt to use backup copy as primary copy is damaged or has invalid information.
Resolution:
You can fix corrupted primary boot sector using Dskprobe.exe tool. This tool enables you to copy the backup of boot sector over damaged boot sector.
If this method does not work, you need to use hard drive recovery software to retrieve your data and format hard drive to fix the damaged boot sector. The applications effectively scan damaged Windows hard drive and extract all lost data from it. With interactive and simple graphical user interface, the Hard Drive Recovery tools are very easy to use.
